The Preceding From A Rather Different Perspective

Now, let us say you want to become a dashing young space-pilot. The most important thing in your quest is the nature of your space-ship. How will you get it? One possibility is to join the Navy. But this is a poor choice for many people! There are strict regulations, and very little opportunity for customization! Also, you're expected to do work. And follow orders! Instead, you might well think of joining the Thomas & Co. program - founded by Tom N. himself.

Now, as a brave young space-pilot, obviously your first priority is your ship. (After your life, of course). Now, you want to customize this ship, and make it your own - and to do so, your goal must be to keep it (and, incidentally, yourself) free of harm. Thus, logically, your duty whenever combat occurs is to flee. This is not possible in the Navy! They frown on this behavior. But Thomas & Co. encourages it!

Guideline 1: When In Doubt, Run Away!

To customize your ship, you'll need money. The Navy will pay you - but they won't let you do hardly anything with your ship! This is sub-optimal. Instead, why not join the Official Privateer List, and get paid by tonnage destroyed? Adaptive scheduling allows you to strike whenever time permits, and avoid targets that might actually put you in any danger! With Thomas & Co.'s recommendation, you're sure to go far as a privateer!

Guideline 2: Shoot Things That Can't Hurt You!

Sadly, with a starter-class, cheap vessel, there's only so much you can do to customize it. It's too small! Thankfully, Thomas & Co. is glad to provide you with options. They'll sell you your first ship for a reasonable fee (readily payable in installments of Thomas & Co. mortgages), and once you pay off that one, they're quite ready to sell you another, even better starship - at a somewhat higher price, of course, but you've proven you can handle a mortgage or two! Just keep shooting down that enemy shipping, and you'll have a Galaxy-class superstarfighter in no time!

Guideline 3: Upgrade, Upgrade, Upgrade!

And what are you going to do with your brand new starfighters? They're kept spartan - for customizeability, of course - but that means that you're going to have to customize them. You could buy Navy parts, or scrounge on the black market - but the Navy is inflexible, rarely has the items you want, and will never sell the really good stuff, and the black market is downright dangerous! No, you've gotta buy Thomas & Co. starship accessories - affordability you can trust!

In the war between Terra and the colonies, there will always be a need for more starships - and where there's a need, there's Thomas & Co.

Author's Note: The level of vertical integration that Mssr. Nook achieves in his appearances is actually somewhat intimidating when you think about it. But then, I suppose others may have noted it before me.
